Have you ever wished you had better looking breasts?

Just how much importance a woman should give to the look of her breasts is debatable. It involves definitions of beauty and the role of body image in women’s lives.

However, there is no denying that a woman’s breasts are among the most distinctive features of her body and a woman who is comfortable with her looks is likely to have higher self-esteem and confidence.
So can you change your breasts into the shape and size that looks best for you!

Yes you can, with a little help from Dr. Karishma Aesthetics.

What gives the Breast its Shape?

Your breast is made up mainly of milk ducts, breast tissue gland s and fatty tissue. It gets its shape from the firm glandular tissue and its soft feel from the fatty tissue. Beneath all this is the chest muscle but it doesn’t really affect the breast shape or feel. Breast implants are surgically implanted beneath your breast tissue, either on top of the chest muscle or beneath a portion or all of the chest muscle.

Should you consider cosmetic breast procedures?

You should make that decision based on how comfortable you are with your body. However, first, there are a few caveats to be kept in mind and you need to clearly understand what these procedures can achieve.

If you are a woman, at least 22 years old, and not currently pregnant or breastfeeding, you can consider going for cosmetic breast procedures, if :

  • Your breasts are relatively small in proportion to your body size.
  • You have just undergone a massive weight-loss programme which has affected the size and shape of your breasts
  • You have breasts of different sizes due to a birth defect (Tuberous Breasts)
  • Your breasts are sagging or drooping, as happens post breastfeeding
  • You have had a mastectomy for medical reasons

Please read this section carefully and consult Dr. Karishma to clarify all your doubts so that you can fulfil your desire to make your breasts just right for your body.

Cosmetic procedures on the breast are broadly categorised into four types:

  • Breast Augmentation
  • Breast Lift
  • Breast Reduction
  • Breast Reconstruction

Recovery & Follow Up:

Breast augmentation, breast reduction and breast lift have short recovery periods. You can resume your daily routine within two days and get back to normal work in a week.

However, you must avoid strenuous exercise, aerobics and lifting heavy weights for four weeks
Immediately after surgery, there will be a bandage over the breast with a special supporting bra. You may experience some pain and discomfort, as well as a little redness and swelling. This is normal and adequate medications will be given to keep you comfortable.

Dr. Karishma will make sure you are well looked after during the healing process and follow-up clinic visits will be scheduled to keep all complications at bay.

Commonly Used Terms:

IMPLANTS

What are the implants made of?

There are two types of implants:

Silicone – these are made of silicone shells containing silicone gel. The silicone implants available these days have a firm and stable gel, which makes them feel soft and more like real breasts. They come in two shapes: round and teardrop.

Saline-filled – These implants are filled with sterile saline water solution. They feel firmer and less natural than silicone implants.

How durable are breast implants?

The shell and the gel have improved tremendously in quality over the years and implants these days are more durable than before. However, they do not have a permanent life and are subject to wear and tear as much as any other medical device placed inside the body. All implants used at Dr. Karishma’s Aesthetics come with a 10-year warranty.

What are the risks of having breast implants?

Implants are generally considered to be safe and not known to pose any health problems. The most significant risk is that of the implant breaking. This can happen if your breast is subjected to some sort of trauma, for example, if you fall down heavily.

If a saline-filled implant breaks, all that will leak out is saltwater, which will be absorbed by the body.
When gel filled implants break, the gel leaks out and may spread outside the breast as well. This doesn’t pose any health risk but you must have the implant and all the loose gel removed.
