About Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction involves recreating the breasts. There are multiple procedures to accomplish this, involving transferring tissue from another part of the body and at the same time avoiding any disfigurement at the site from where the tissue is taken. If only one breast is removed, then the opposite breast size will be matched to the existing one to give near-normal symmetry. Breast implants can be used also to give you near normal looking breast. Implants are generally preferred to be done at a later date, after completing your radiotherapy and once the tissue softens up. Implants are placed at one stage, or at times as a staged procedure after expanding the existing tight skin over the chest.
