In the implantation method, there is a risk of infection. A fine scar will also be present in the buttock cleavage. There may also be some restrictions on sitting down for about a week. Fat transfer is usually safe as the fat is taken from your own body. It is also longer lasting and minimally invasive. It leaves no scars, only a few minor cuts, which will dry up and vanish in a few days. The added advantage is that stubborn fat, which is resistant to diet and exercise, can be removed and transferred in the same sitting. Both procedures are usually done under general anaesthesia. Usually, you can go home the same day. If an implant has been placed, you will be advised against sitting on your buttocks for about a week. If only fat has been transferred, no such restrictions will apply. Strenuous exercises must be avoided for few weeks. You will also need to wear the compression garments that we provide you for 4-6 weeks.
