Hair Fall? Strictly Steer Clear From These Hair Products

A good hair day boosts our confidence and mood to an extent. However, hair problems seldom leave us alone. While certain hair products guarantee our mane to look fuller and stronger, overusing them may backfire instead. The chemical damage and over-processing of hair are causes of hair fall that is triggered by these products.

Long-term use of these hair products may make your hair look brittle and dry over time. They coat the hair strands which makes them look stiff and frayed. Certain hair problems like split ends, dandruff, dry hair, and hair fall are often caused by the harmful components in hair products.

To explain more about it, Dr Karishma Kagodu, cosmetologist and plastic surgeon spoke to HealthShots about the underlying causes of hair fall and their correlation with hair products.

Here are few products that become causes of hair fall:

    1. Caffeine Products:

Avoid thickening shampoos containing coffee. Caffeine limits blood flow. “We need to support hair growth by increasing blood flow to the hair roots. Therefore, using products with caffeine may be detrimental for your hair health” says Dr Kagodu, who is the founder and managing director of Dr Karishma’s Aesthetics.

    2. Sulfur or Sulfates

If your hair is susceptible to damage, you need to avoid products with sulfur or sulfates. Shampoos that contain sulfur, strips the oils from your scalp, causing hair to dry and break out. “The harsh sulfates in shampoos irritate the scalp and result in breakdown of your hair cuticle and shaft by decreasing the hair protein content,” says Dr Kagodu.

    3. Ammonia

Most hair colours are loaded with ammonia. Ammonia can raise the PH level of hair to 10-10.5. This shift in the pH level weakens the hair shaft by damaging the protein within leading to shedding and breakage of hair.

    4. Parabens

Parabens in hair products cause drying of hair, scalp irritation, hair loss and fading of your hair color. They put our hair tresses in a dry and frizzy condition, creating lack of nutrition for hair follicles leading to scalp deterioration.

    5. Overuse of oil

Overuse of scalp oils and keeping oils for long periods can clog the scalp pores, which in turn restricts the scalp from breathing, leading to an increase in scalp inflammation. Avoid oiling too often and do not keep them on for long. Oils are best suggested to stay for 20-30 minutes and should be applied on hair length and tips rather than scalp.

So, ladies, it is important to read the ingredient labels on your hair products before putting them in the cart. This will help prevent these causes of hair fall and damage from further harming your pretty locks.

  • Summer skin care: Get your skin sun-ready with these essential expert tips

Summer skin care: Get your skin sun-ready with these essential expert tips

The beginning of March marks the onset of summer in Mumbai. However, as winter retreats, one cannot afford to be lax with their skin care routines. Experts outline the importance of transitioning from winter to summer dermal care and share effective solutions.

Every season comes with its share of skin care problems—be it dryness during winters, or oiliness during summer—which demands that we are proactive when it comes to our skin care regimen. “When the temperature and humidity change, you must transition your skin care routine in order to adapt to the weather shift. What suits you in winter might not fit once summer hits, as the amount of sun exposure varies from season to season, and that plays a vital role in customising the skin care regime. Pigmentation, ageing, and other factors that affect the tone and texture of the skin are highly influenced by temperature and humidity changes. Thus, your skin care requires dermatologically certified attention, starting with the very basics of using the right cleanser, sunscreen, moisturiser, and serum,” explains Dr. Karishma Kagodu, plastic surgeon, founder and managing director of Dr. Karishma’s Aesthetics.

  • Are You Protecting Your Hair And Skin At Holi, Today?

Are You Protecting Your Hair And Skin At Holi, Today?

Holi, the festival of colours, is here. We’re sure the party is underway with all the masti and mazaa that goes with it, but for those who are set to begin the celebrations post a festive lunch, make sure your skincare is in place. There are several things to keep in mind, pre and post-playing, that will make a difference to your skin and hair. We asked dermatologists to share their dos and don’ts.

    Pre-Playing Care

Says clinical cosmetologist, Dr Debeshi Bhattacharjee, “One must start moisturising the skin on a prior basis so after Holi the skin won’t become too dry even after vigorously trying to strip off the colours. Before you head out to play Holi, apply almond oil on your entire body as it’s rich in vitamin E, it so won’t make the skin dry and will be easier to prevent the colours from sticking to the body. You can also use olive oil. It’s important not to wear any make-up and use a sunscreen spray with minimum SPF 30 on your body skin as well to avoid tanning.” She adds, “Another tip is to coat petroleum jelly over the lips and around eyes and ears, which will help prevent colours from sticking.”

Shares plastic surgeon, Dr Karishma Kagodu, “Using organic and skin safe colours is vital. Also, make sure you oil your hair before going out to play Holi and protect your hair from the colours that can stick onto the hair and dry it out. To be cautious, also avoid swimming, heavy workouts, waxing, threading or facials post-playing, for two to three days.”

    Post-Holi Hair Care

It’s fun to play with an array of colours, but it’s also important to ensure these are removed from the hair after Holi. Says dermatologist Dr Nishita Ranka Bagmar, “Protect your hair from the harsh chemicals that damage your hair and make it matted and tangled, which can further lead to hair fall. Once you are done with all the fun with the colours remember to come home and immediately jump into the shower. One pro tip here would be to use an anti-dandruff shampoo as it has some ingredients in it that help in getting rid of the colours faster. You might also need to maintain the same routine for the next week to repair all the damage that the colour has done to your scalp.”

She adds, “It is non-negotiable to use a shampoo and a conditioner to rinse off all the colour and to retain moisture on the hair shaft. After this, be gentle and wait for the hair to naturally dry. Then, try detangling it gently with a wide-toothed comb, starting from below and moving upwards. Once the hair is a little less tangled, run a regular comb into the hair.”

Celebrating The Doyenne: Dr. Karishma Kagodu

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.” ~ Virginia Woolf. On this International Women’s Day, Global Spa recognizes and celebrates the women in the industry as we delve into the success mantra they follow, mistakes that have helped them grow, and of course, their WELLNESS philosophy.

Dr. Karishma Kagodu is a Plastic Surgeon, and the Founder and Managing Director of Dr. Karishma’s Aesthetics (Kaesthetics).

    What is your wellness philosophy?

Wellness is anything that makes you feel good. Everyone has their own wellness philosophies. It’s a very personal choice. I find what works best for me is to engage in things that stimulate my mind and body, exercising is a huge part of my routine and I am quite the fitness enthusiast. Besides working out, I also really enjoy indulging in self-care routines, I find them to be a self-esteem booster and it encourages me to spend time with myself and take care of myself.

    Your success mantra?

The mantra to success is good old-fashioned hard work. Success means different things to different people, but to be able to get there requires a lot of hard work, perseverance and belief in yourself. I genuinely am of the opinion that if you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will. Honing your craft and excelling in your field is another key tenet of success. My mantra has always been to believe in myself and I am constantly on a journey of growth and self-improvement. I am always learning and expanding my horizon, which has led me to where I am today.

A lesson you learned from making a mistake?

Making mistakes is human, we all make mistakes. Learning is impossible without having erred and like any other professional I have made mistakes too. Making mistakes should never hold you back. It’s okay to make a mistake, it’s how you rise above it and learn, that really counts at the end of the day. I’ve always taken into consideration how my mistakes can better me as a medical professional and have made me a perfectionist. I never let myself get bogged down by mistakes, to me, that is an opportunity to learn and grow and I find it to be humbling and grounding. We learn more from our mistakes than we do from instant success.

Any piece of advice for all the women out there?

Believe in yourself. It is of the utmost importance for every woman out there to believe in herself and her dreams. Prioritize your education and career, plan your financial growth, and secure your future. We are living in a brave new world and women are at the helm of everything that is good and great, young girls must take advantage of this and focus on their career, self-improvement and financial independence. Strong, empowered, independent women are the gateway to a truly empowered and able society that is proactive, action-oriented and compassionate.

What has been your biggest pride as a doyenne?

My journey to becoming a plastic surgeon has not been easy. Especially in a country like India where my field of specialization is considered a taboo, it has taken years of hard work to get where I am today. I pride myself in being current. I always stay in touch with the developments and disruptions in my field that will enable me to make procedures safer and less intrusive. Be it attending conferences and seminars or doing extensive research and reading, I make sure I am always ahead of the game and strive to serve as an example to my peers. Besides that, it is a pride and joy to be the only female plastic surgeon in the city to have her own practice. That was a dream my mother had envisioned for me and I am glad I could turn it into a reality. I hope my practice grows and continues to make a positive impact in people’s lives.

  • Top Facts You Should Know About Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)

Top Facts You Should Know About Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)

“BBL is a well known aesthetic procedure done to enhance and contour the buttock usually performed by a highly-qualified plastic surgeon!”

    • Do you want a safe and effective procedure to enhance the contour of your buttocks?
    • Do you want to enhance the volume of your buttock and have it in proportion to the rest of your body?
    • Would you want a buttock shape and size you have always desired?

Brazilian butt lift or BBL surgery in simple terms means buttock augmentation. Brazilian butt lift surgery is an advanced procedure that uses either a silicone implant or fat is taken from any area of your body (using liposuction) and injected into the buttock to enhance your buttocks’ shape, size, and contour. Because liposuction is used to extract fat from localized body areas such as the waist, thighs, love handles, abdomen, or where it is not wanted, it helps achieve an overall body contour profile. Brazilian butt lift in Bangalore, India, is a popular plastic surgery procedure. Every year, many patients from all over India avail the benefits of this procedure. One can achieve the desired sculpted profile based on the aesthetic demand and anatomical status.

Dr. Karishma Kagodu, MS, M CH., a board-certified plastic surgeon and head of Dr. Karishma Aesthetics, regularly performs buttock augmentation surgery and had a notable presence in offering the best natural-looking results for more than a decade. Dr. Karishma is a highly qualified and proficient plastic surgeon in South India and is well-informed about the best buttock surgery procedures and avoiding any chance of complications. Performed correctly by the expert hand of Dr. Karishma Kagodu, the Brazilian butt lift is a safe and effective procedure.

Top Facts you should know about Brazilian butt lift:

    1. You should only consider a Brazilian butt lift if you have a highly-qualified plastic surgeon.

Brazilian butt lift requires extreme precision and surgical expertise from a plastic surgeon to meet the desired surgical goal. Regardless of the purpose, you should only consider a Brazilian butt lift if you have a highly-qualified plastic surgeon. Safety and precision are essential in Brazilian butt lift surgery to avoid the risks of fat embolism. However, it is mandatory to crosscheck the plastic surgeon’s experience in performing BBL before choosing them for the procedure. The procedure’s success requires a practised hand and precise knowledge of anatomy.

    2. Brazilian butt lift with Fat Grafting gives you a dual benefit.

Brazilian butt lift is done with fat transfer is a dual benefiting procedure that gives you an enhanced buttock and same time also provides a contoured body profile in the area where liposuction has been performed. Firstly, liposuction removes stubborn fat from localized body areas such as thighs, abdomen, waist, or back. The required amount of fat is collected in special canisters. The extracted fat is then purified and carefully injected into your buttocks. Fat transfer to the buttock has the advantage of using your own body tissue and hence giving natural results.

Fat grafting buttocks has one disadvantage that you may lose 30-40% of the transferred fat during each session. Hence, if large volumes are desired, we advise 2 or 3 stages of fat injections at 6 months intervals if needed.

At times, 1 stage is sufficient and a patient may retain all the fat injected and be content with the results.

    3. Brazilian butt lift using Silicone Implants – can address both volumes and shape.

Few patients may demand a higher buttock volume and drastic shape changes. In those cases, a Silicone Implant is chosen. The latest 4th generation forms of stable implants are extremely durable and resistant with high manufacturing quality standards. These implants are inserted under the muscle or fat compartment of your buttock with extreme care and safety.

This procedure does carry the disadvantage of having a scar within the butt natal cleft but the scars are hidden within the butt cheeks. We make sure the scars are well concealed and not visible externally even in a bikini or a thong.

The Brazilian butt lift surgery will see a subtle boost in size, along with a smoother texture and a more symmetrical shape. The surgeon’s expert hands make you achieve the contour goal very beautifully and fill the volume demand when fat cannot achieve it.

Implants can give you a Natural look also if a moderate size is chosen. For many patients who do not have much fat in other areas of the body – A buttock Implant will be the only option for them.

Just be sure to discuss your goal with Dr. Karishma during your introductory consultation so that everything will be well-clarified and the surgical plan is arranged accordingly.

    Conclusion:

Overall, no matter your body type, the expert plastic surgeon designs a customized surgical plan to meet the aesthetic demand of a balanced silhouette profile. In addition, Brazilian butt lift/ BBL surgery/ Buttock augmentation surgery gives you a long-lasting result if you follow a healthy diet, exercise, and stable weight.

  • Are You Good Candidate for Non-surgical Rhinoplasty?

Are You Good Candidate for Non-surgical Rhinoplasty?

“The ideal candidate for liquid rhinoplasty is someone who has small nasal bumps, minor irregularities, minor nose depressions and slightly droopy tips and requires a quicker transformation!”

    • Are you struggling with minor asymmetries along with the nose?
    • Do you have small nasal bumps and slightly droopy tips?
    • Are you looking for a quicker transformation?

Do you know non-surgical Rhinoplasty can achieve outstanding results in patients who want to camouflage a dorsal hump or someone looking to raise the bridge of their nose?

Non-surgical or liquid Rhinoplasty is a suitable option for those patients looking for a quick contour procedure to shape their nose without having to go under the scalpel. Non-surgical Rhinoplasty has become very popular in Bangalore, India because it has minimal or zero downtime. In addition, it is an easy procedure and has quick results compared to surgical rhinoplasty/nose job.

Dr. Karishma Kagodu, MS, M CH., Managing Director of Dr. Karishma Aesthetics in Bangalore, India, says, “every patient is different and requires a customized treatment based on their anatomy as well as the extent of the required correction.”

    What is Non-surgical Rhinoplasty?

Liquid or non-surgical Rhinoplasty is a lunchtime procedure to shape your nose without surgical intervention. It is a quick procedure that addresses issues like a minor dorsal hump, a drooping nasal tip, and minor asymmetry.

Fillers (containing hyaluronic acid) are used to perform non-surgical Rhinoplasty, which effectively improves the contour and shape of your nose without surgical intervention.

With liquid rhinoplasty procedure, Dr. Karishma Kagodu, a board-certified plastic surgeon injects fillers under the nose skin to improve the shape, size, and contour.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are popular and gained a reputation for being safe, effective, result-centric, and a good alternative to the surgical option.

Juvéderm® Voluma ® and Restylane are popular HA brands used for non-surgical nose job purposes.

Non-surgical Rhinoplasty lasts between 9-18 months, depending on the nasal anatomy and skin thickness.

What Are The Benefits of Non-Surgical/Liquid Rhinoplasty?

    1. Liquid Rhinoplasty is also known as a lunchtime procedure as it only takes 10-15 minutes to perform.
    2. There is a minimal downtime of 2-3days, results are immediate, and you can return to your work the day after getting the procedure done.
    3. You will be awake and conscious during the whole procedure because there is no need for anaesthesia.
    4. Few patients who are oversensitive to pain – a numbing cream is applied to the skin 30mins before the procedure.
    5. The most important benefit of non-surgical Rhinoplasty is that it is reversible. Your surgeon can dissolve the fillers if the results are unsatisfactory, or you may want to change the contour.
    6. Liquid Rhinoplasty is a cost-effective, temporary, and quicker option to contour your nose according to your wish and expectations.

Are You The Right Candidate for Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?

You may be the right candidate for liquid Rhinoplasty if:

    1. You have small nasal bumps and slightly droopy tips.
    2. You have minor nasal asymmetry.
    3. You have a poor nasal definition, like a flat nose or a saddle depression of the nose.
    4. You fairly understand the pros and cons of a non-surgical nose job and are ready to treat any complications.
    5. You require a temporary change in your nasal shape, symmetry, and contour.
    6. You want to correct a mildly crooked nose.
    7. You want a drastic improvement in the appearance of your nose that is too fragile for a surgical or revision rhinoplasty.
    Conclusion:

Overall, we can say that non-surgical Rhinoplasty or nose job is a good decision if you want a temporary change in your nasal shape and contour. And on the other hand, you want to see the nasal appearance to a certain degree and contour before finalizing a surgical rhinoplasty decision.

However, liquid Rhinoplasty is not a suitable option for patients with functional breathing issues (septoplasty) or patients who want a dramatic improvement in narrowing their noses. In those cases, a surgical Nose job or surgical rhinoplasty with septoplasty (for breathing difficulty) is advised.

A one to one consultation with Dr Karishma will help you decide if you are the right candidate for a non-surgical nose job.

  • No One Has Shiny, Dazzling Genitals. Let’s Normalise A Darker Pubic Area

No One Has Shiny, Dazzling Genitals. Let’s Normalise A Darker Pubic Area

Remember when things were getting hot and heavy with someone and then when he pulled your panties down, he was practically blinded? Like your pubic area, white as a dove, shone and sparkled so hard he stopped your makeout session from going wear some sunglasses? Oh, it’s not happened to you? I am shocked. Appalled. Gobsmacked. But I believe you because these scenarios is entirely made up.

Having grown up on a staple diet of melanin-phobia and porn, we have been made to believe that the pubic area is always supremely white and looks like a freshly plucked chicken at all times. This, coupled with the fact that we treat conversations around sex as taboo, means that every look at the nether regions is met with disappointment because why does my pubic area have to be so underwhelming.

We spoke to the dermatologists to know how common it is (very) and how our personal prejudices might come into play (of course). We started with the obvious questions.

Is A Darker Pubic Area Normal?

The answer, unsurprisingly, is unanimous. Celebrity Cosmetic Dermatologist Dr Soma Sarkar, founder of Dr. Soma’s Aesthetic Clinic, Mumbai says, ”A slightly darker pubic region is absolutely normal. This is going to be universal for all of us. There are certain areas in the body like eyes and genitals where your melanin content is higher and you will have a darker skin than your rest of the body.” Dr Karishma Kagodu, Cosmetic Surgeon, Founder Dr. Karishma’s Aesthetics, says pretty much the same thing. This is normal and we need to stop believing otherwise. “It is absolutely normal for skin in the pubic area to be darker than other areas, the melanocytes in this area are comparatively more sensitive to hormonal changes.”

So there is a common consensus. There’s nothing shameful or embarrassing about your genitals looking like they haven’t been bleached. That’s the thing about porn-, given that we take a lot of our sex education from there. It makes you believe that those picture-perfect genitals hairless and clean and are real. They are not. The fluctuations in colour in the pubic region are often caused due to the ravages of hormones. Dr Karishma says, “Hormonal changes like this take place at different stages in our lives starting from puberty, pregnancy, post pregnancy, menopause etc. Friction due to chafing, sexual intercourse or wearing tight panties can also stimulate melanocytes resulting in further darkening the skin. People suffering from PCOS are more prone to hormonal fluctuations, thereby more prone to hyperpigmentation in the pubic area.”

Dermatitis is screaming hoarse about not using harsh chemicals on your face. Ignoring all sane advice are people who are willing to bleach their nether regions to make them look a certain way, making a great case for therapy. At the risk of sounding repetitive, your pubic area cannot be fair (it can be lovely, however) unless you carry a personal photoshopper around. What makes us think that the region should be gloriously white anyway? Dr Soma says, “The stigma of a darker pubic area is there because of certain fetishes or preconceived notions that people have. It is very subjective.”

Dr Karishma explains that it is all in the head. “Amongst Indians the general perception about dark skin is undesirability – it is associated with it due to centuries of negative programming towards dark skin. This has trickled down to even stigmatizing a darker pubic area, which a cause of daily life and hormonal functions. One must remember that it is absolutely normal to have a darker pubic area and that even people with the lightest skin tone have a darker pubic area as compared to the rest of their body. Timely care and consulting your dermatologist on time can help in reducing darkness, but the primary goal should be hygiene and maintaining pubic health by being cognizant. Confidence is the ultimate key to happiness and a pH balanced, dry and clean pubic area is the answer to that, whether it is light or dark is irrelevant.“

    Serve It Bright

Dr Soma says that brightening asks are not that uncommon. “People do come to us for a lot of lightening treatments on the pubic area but even after doing these treatments you cannot have a completely lighter skin because the melanin itself in that area is so dense that you cannot keep exfoliating. Secondly, there are a lot of parts to the pubic area and there are muceza also involved. Certain lasers or chemical exfoliators cannot be used on the mucosal part because it is the most sensitive part and you do not want to disturb the anatomy of your genitals area. So, there are a lot of precautions to be taken. You cannot just keep whitening treatment to have lighter skin.”

Now, the pubic area might be darker and you might be able to wrap your head around it, but you’re are pretty sure that the turmeric mask you used on your face could work for your pubes. NOPE.

    Don’t DIY Treatments!

he dermatitis are vehement in their opposition but not surprised. Dr Karishma says, “Keep in mind to stay away from all DIY methods to lighten the pubic area and strictly avoid bleaching the skin on this area. Generally a long term use of topical creams and serum is not recommended, absorption rate in the pubic area is higher due to increased blood flow which can prove to be harmful in the long run.“

Dr. Soma also warns against it. ”There are mild lightening agents available which are non-irritating but it has to be given under the supervision of a dermatologist. Please do not go and attempt to buy these products over the counter and without any clinical assistance because they land you up in huge problems and you might burn your skin rather than getting it corrected.”

Overall, treating your pubic area like they are to be used in a Tide ad is an entirely bad idea and one that we recommend you dismiss entirely. And oh, please ignore those brightening and lightening creams available aplenty. Vaginal bleaching is also a bad idea. Just leave the area alone!

In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Dr Debeshi Bhattacharjee, Clinical Cosmetologist and Founder of Lueur Aesthetics, advised, “Resurfacing skin treatments, bleach and new salon-based facials before 1 week and bleach can cause a reaction as few treatments have downtimes. So if there are any treatments you are planning, it’s better to do it a minimum of 6-8 weeks prior. Avoid any home remedies you randomly watch that you have never tried before. Any new ingredient might react. It’s advisable not to try any new cosmetics a few days before the wedding. Treatments are recommended to start a minimum of 3-6 months prior to the wedding.”

Dr Karishma Kagodu, Plastic Surgeon, Founder and Managing Director of Dr. Karishma’s Aesthetics (Kaesthetics), made a handy list of a few things that the brides and grooms-to-be can avoid, a few months before their wedding, to ensure that it goes nice and smooth and they look their best:

    1. Do not consume too much caffeine, tobacco and alcohol.
    2. Drink responsibly and consume mindfully because alcohol causes water retention and bloating. While drinking you may also tend to overeat, consume salty foods and junk food, all of which will affect your skin and may cause acne breakouts. Also, a hangover is not something you want to wake up to on your wedding day.
    3. Smoking as we all know damages the skin by affecting your immune system. Toxins in the smoke damage collagen in the skin – causes premature ageing, skin wrinkles, lip pigmentation. Smoking can worsen pre-existing skin diseases like psoriasis, eczema and other autoimmune skin diseases.
    4. Plan a good skin routine with your dermatologist at least 6-9 months prior to the wedding date.
    5. If you are very close to the wedding date and still not worked on your skin – Try to get a good medifacial/hydrafacial a month before and a few days prior to ensure glowing skin.
    6. Do not squeeze your acne: Squeezing acne leaves long term scars. It is advisable to meet your dermatologist or Cosmetologist and get your acne treated in advance with the right combination of medications, topical creams and skin acne treatments like chemical peels, carbon lasers and medifacials.
    7. Do not stay up late: Your skin needs its rest and an 8-hour beauty sleep is the key to ensure your skin looks rested and non-puffy, and ensures you don’t look exhausted, so get at least 8 hours of sleep, especially the week prior to your wedding.
    8. Do not try new products: Trying new products at the eleventh hour can ruin your skin and cause chemical burns, breakouts, or irritation. Also, avoid any harsh scrubs or readymade dermabrasion creams that claim instant glow-boosting because they can cause random breakouts and acne.
    9. Do not remove hair: Hair removal should be done at least a couple of days before your wedding day because it may cause breakouts and irritation.

Revealing the mistakes that one should avoid, when it comes to beauty and nutrition as you gear up for your wedding events, Dr Nishita Ranka Bagmar, Dermatologist, Medical Director and Founder of Dr. Nishita’a Clinic for Skin, Hair and Aesthetics, shared:

    1. The most common mistake is getting wax on the body for the first time before the wedding and if you have never done it before, 90% of the time there is a chance that it will break out into an acne form rash on the back or the chest which is very difficult to treat in the last 2 to 3 days before the event. So, opt for other safer hair removal methods like laser and if you must wax, the recommendation is to at least try it before 2 to 3 months before your event and only if you have no rash then you can repeat it before the wedding again.
    2. Another common mistake that we see people making is trying out new makeup products directly for the events. Test the products that you are going to be using for the wedding. Ask your makeup artist to keep you informed about the products they will be using and if any particular product has not suited you before, then you inform them about the same to minimise the risk of a rash during the wedding festivities.
    3. A thing to refrain from just before the wedding is not to try any active ingredients in the last few weeks before the wedding. If you have never used something with active ingredients like Glycolic acid, Azelaic acid or retinol, trying it on just before the events or a few weeks before the wedding could lean into a little bit of purging or a rash. If you are planning to start a skincare routine, definitely start it at least 3 to 4 months prior. Do not start anything very close to the date.
    4. A mistake that brides and grooms make are to bleach for the very first time very close to the event. A lot of times, bleaching of the face can lead to a rash, again which is slightly difficult to subside in a couple of days. Hence, if you have never done it before, do not do it close to the event or you can do it a few months prior to see how your skin reacts to it and only if it’s safe, try it.
    5. Something else that you should not be doing prior to the event is trying any new chemical peels or any treatments in a clinic which could result in downtimes. Stay away from any laser or any peels which you have never tried before to minimise the risk of any unwanted effects and you do not end up in any side effect before the event. Do not try any new in-clinic treatments, you can always go on for a lot of medifacials and treatments which are safe and without any downtime to be on the safer side. These will give you a really nice glow as well.
    6. Another important thing to not do before the wedding is plan a holiday, maybe a bachelorette or a lot of these pre-wedding shoots, which happen now in the sunlight. If you have an active tan or a recent tan then, whatever else you have done or all your skincare routine will go in for a toss and you will still not appear your best.
    7. Do not stress too much before the event cause your whole skincare routine and treatments can go in for a toss and you could land up in trouble because of the stress or dullness. You will still not look your best. If you are planning your own wedding, which is commonly the case nowadays where the bride and the groom are very actively participating in the wedding, it is recommended to hand over all the wedding work to your friends and family a couple of weeks before the events so you can rest enough and get enough sleep and not stress too much about the event in order to glow well on your big day.
    8. Stay away from a lot of junk foods, a lot of sweets, a lot of dairy products which can again cause breakout and can make the skin oily. A few weeks before the wedding is when you should start eating clean so that your skin and hair look their best on your big day.

    • Do you know the result may take a longer time to appear?
    • Do you know that tummy tuck surgery is not an alternative for weight loss?
    • Are you worried about longer recovery and have very little knowledge about the post-op measures?

The above concerns raise the request for an introductory consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon, such as Dr. Karishma Kagodu, MS, M CH. Tummy tuck surgery is considered one of the most sophisticated kinds of cosmetic surgery that requires extreme precision and aesthetic sense to be performed. The complexities associated with the surgery set the procedure apart from other cosmetic surgeries, involving the most concerned post-op follow-ups and instructions. However, it is challenging plastic surgery, a procedure that requires discussion concerning every fact and detail before finalizing the surgical planning.

The pros and cons tell you several important facts associated with tummy tucks that need to be known by the prospective candidates.

    What is Tummy Tuck Surgery?

Tummy tuck surgery/ abdominoplasty is performed to flatten your abdomen by removing extra fat deposits and skin from the abdomen and restoring weakened muscles to create a smoother, firmer abdomen profile. Tummy tuck significantly improves your abdomen’s contour, size, appearance, and profile by eliminating unwanted fat pockets and excess skin. Still, it is not an alternative for weight loss. However, it is better to talk to Dr. Karishma Kagodu if you are concerned about the body contouring goal. To meet the desired body contouring goal, she may suggest a combined body contouring surgery, such as liposuction with a tummy tuck.

The Pros of Tummy Tuck Surgery:

Tummy tuck surgery offers significant advantages to patients who have lost extensive weight or have had children.

The Following Pointers Are Quick-Listing of Tummy Tuck Surgery Pros:

    1. Contoured Abdomen Profile: Tummy tuck surgery offers a flatter, slimmer, sculpted waistline by removing unwanted fat pockets deposit and excess skin.
    2. Repairs weakened abdominal muscles: Tummy tuck/abdominoplasty surgery repairs weak or separated abdominal muscles and corrects protruding belly, also called abdominal pooch.
    3. Removes stretch marks: Tummy tuck surgery helps remove or reduce pregnancy stretch marks from your lower abdomen. Tummy tuck also helps improve C-section and hysterectomy scars.
    4. Your health status will improve: You will experience an improvement in medical problems after having tummy tuck surgery, such as urinary incontinence and lower back pain.
    5. You will feel better with improved self-confidence: You will experience enhanced self-confidence after having a tummy tuck, as you will notice your clothes fit better than they did before.
The Cons of Tummy Tuck That You Should Be Aware of Are Mentioned Below:
    1. A full abdominoplasty is a major operation that requires an extensive recovery period and planned post-op management.
    2. After tummy tuck surgery, maintaining an ideal weight is mandatory to enjoy longer-lasting results. A healthy lifestyle followed by a balanced diet and regular exercise is requested to be added to your routine post-op tummy tuck surgery.
    3. Results take time, as you need to heal from the scars, swelling, bruising, and pain. The plastic surgeon will recommend you wear a compression garment during the recovery period to heal smoothly with minimum discomforts. Tummy tuck surgery may take several months before you see your outcome.
    4. You will have a lower abdominal scar, but it’s effectively concealed within the bikini area and can be improved with time, followed by using silicone scar strips or topical creams.
