Instead of silicon, liquid or gel based fillers are injected into the cheeks. Well-known brands of fillers include: Juvederm Voluma, Sculptra and Radiesse among others. They are usually made of substances like hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxylapatite, which are present naturally in the body and hence safe. Fillers usually last for 12 to 18 months after which you may need to get a refill. The procedure is quick and you can leave immediately after
This is a more permanent solution and safer as well. Fat is taken from another part of your body and injected into the cheeks. Since the fat is from your own body, it will be accepted all the better. The fat also helps to rejuvenate and enhance your skin’s texture and tone. This, again, is a day care procedure.

Silicone implants of the appropriate size and shape are inserted in the cheeks. The procedure takes just about an hour and you can return home the same day. It can be done under local anesthesia or general anesthesia depending on what you are comfortable with
Since these procedures are minimally invasive, recovery is fairly quick. You can get back to your normal activity the next day itself and wear make-up immediately after the procedures. There may be a little swelling or redness, which is normal and will disappear in a few days.
Avoid exposing your face to direct sunlight for at least 2 to 3 weeks. If you have to go outdoors, apply sunscreen on your face and repeat the application every 3 hours.
