Buttock Lift / Augmentation
Buttock/Gluteal Augmentation was started in the late 1980s by Brazilian plastic surgeons and now is popularly known as the “Brazilian Butt Lift“. With celebrity actors, singers and models setting the standard for the perfectly shaped butt, women are increasingly beginning to go in for this procedure. It is very popular in many countries in the West and is slowly becoming popular in India as well.
Plus over the last decade, there has been tumultuous advances in the surgical techniques with improved results.
WHICH METHOD SHOULD YOU GO IN FOR?
In the implantation method, there is a risk of infection. A fine scar will also be present in the buttock cleavage. There may also be some restrictions on sitting down for about a week.
Fat transfer is usually safe as the fat is taken from your own body. It is also longer lasting and minimally invasive. It leaves no scars, only a few minor cuts, which will dry up and vanish in a few days. The added advantage is that stubborn fat, which is resistant to diet and exercise, can be removed and transferred in the same sitting.
Both procedures are usually done under general anesthesia.
Dr. Karishma will discuss both methods with you and recommend the right one.
RECOVERY
Usually, you can go home the same day. If an implant has been placed, you will be advised against sitting on your buttocks for about a week. If only fat has been transferred, no such restrictions will apply. Strenuous exercises must be avoided for few weeks. You will also need to wear the compression garments that we provide you for 4-6 weeks.
BUTTOCK LIFTS CAN BE DONE IN TWO WAYS
Implant – A synthetic implant of the appropriate shape and size is placed under the buttock muscles to lift and shape them to the desired level. This method is know as Fat transfer – in this method, fat from another part of the body is extracted by liposuction and injected into the buttocks. Both procedures are done under general anesthesia.
